Pilgrimage Day 6(5/24) - Masada, Qumram, Baptismal site, Dead Sea

VISIT:  Masada, Qumram, Baptismal site, Dead Sea

I felt their will to keep their faith in God at Masada and at Qumran, no matter what circumstances they approached before them.
And They wanted to keep their faith even if they gave up their lives. I want to have their faith.

Masada:
Located on a high plateau overlooking the Dead Sea, Masada is a fortified palace built by Herod the Great in 37 BC. In the year 73, the Roman 10th Army was dispatched to occupy Masada, the last rebellion of the Jewish rebellion, resulting in the deaths of more than 900 Zealots. They chose group suicide ahead of surrender. Masada Palace is the national sanctuary of Israel and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
The top of the hill is Masada.
We had to climb despite of the hot sunshine and the scary slope. It was terrible.

Qumram:
In 1947, a shepherd boy is famous for accidentally discovering the Dead Sea Scrolls (manuscripts of the Bible) in the Qumran caves. People began to live in the eighth century BC. And a pilgrimage Essenes of the Jewish community in 2c BC left the Dead Sea documents.

Baptismal site in jordan river : Where Jesus was baptized

Baptism has several meanings. The first. There is a sense of cleansing that wash away the wrongs of the past.
The second baptism symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus Himself. Entering the water is a symbol of death, and coming out of the water is a symbol of a new life.

Dead Sea

In the Bible, It was called 'Salt Sea', 'Araba Sea' and 'East Sea'. The name "Dead Sea" seems to have been given after the Bible era, and it is named because the salt content is six times that of ordinary seawater, making it impossible for living creatures to live on.
