Pilgrimage Day 3(5/21) - Mt. Nebo, Madaba, Machaerus, Kerak Castle, Spring of Mose

VISIT :
Mt. Nebo, Madaba, Machaerus, Kerak Castle, Spring of Mose

Moses heard the voice of God at the age of eighty and liberated the Hebrew nation from Egypt. Moses' obedience to God shows that Age or the environment is not important.

Mt. Nebo:
The place where Moses died is the memorial church and the bronze-snake sculpture.
In the church, I think about his feelings that could not go to Canaan.

 Madaba:
The world's oldest Mosaic Bible map was found. It expresses the sacred places of the Middle East around Jerusalem, but now only one third of the original remains. The major sites of the Bible, such as Jerusalem, which is the center of the map, the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, the site of the Baptism of Jesus, Mount Sinai, and Jericho, remain intact and have a very important value.

                                                                      (St.George Church)

Machaerus:
Where John the Baptist was martyred

Herrone valley

Kerak Castle:
In 1132, it was the strongest fortress in the Middle East during the Crusades.

Spring of Mose:

Entering the land of Canaan, Moses struck the rock and caused water to come out.

Pilgrimage Day 2(5/20), Arrives in Amman, Jordan(Transfer from Abu Dhabi)

VISIT: Jerash, Jabbok River

After a long flight, our pilgrimage to the Holy Land began. The first visit was Gerrash.
It was Jerash that I expected too much, but I was a bit disappointed because the management of the Holy Land seems to be poor.
Even so, I felt a sense of ecstasy that could not be spoken in front of a huge and magnificent site.
The fatigue of the long flying time is completely washed away by the sense of ecstasy.

We changed to the Amman flight from Abu Dhabi airport.
(Sunrise in the plane)

(The center of Abu Dhabi airport was a beautiful sculpture.
-like a big tree)

 (Waiting for the ammam airplane)

Jerash is also called Gerasa. Jerash is where Jesus defeats the army ghosts.

The Jabbok River is where Jacob wrestled with angels.

Pilgrimage Day 1(5/19), Incheon Airport departure

(Last meeting in korea - at incheon)

we left the church for airport at 20:00 and  arrived incheon at 09:30. We are 72 persons, A big party.
Everyone was tired because of late evening, but everyone was excited about the trip.

The airplane was a new one. It has a wide and a big screen, And so on. But The airmeal  was so so.

1. What were your expectations of technology before starting the class?
A: I thought I was just learning the Internet-based skills needed for English classes. And it helped to teach English, but I did not think it would contribute much.

2. What did you get most out of the class?
A: The perception of English classes has changed. It is impressive to say that you are giving lecture rights to students.
( About Education revolution)

3. Out of all of the the technologies/programs we learned about, which ones did you find the most useful?
A: I think it is very useful for students to make videos so that they can watch the lecture before class.
                                        (About verb)

4. How will you implement technology into your language learning/teaching?
A: I want to use everything I learned in this lecture. But above all, I will make every effort to make it easy and fun for students.

5. Were the assignments/projects beneficial to you?
A: It was so beneficial and I thank my professor for learning so much beyond my expectations.

6. How was learning about the flipped classroom?
A: I think the flipped classroom is the only alternative to cope with the current educational situation.
(Flipping the Classroom: Explained )

7. What are your hopes for the future in relation to educational technology?
A:  I hope that out-of-class lessons are essential. Because it is a true learning lesson that you directly feel and see directly rather than just lecture in the classroom. I hope all the technical things that support such a class.
For example, it is hoped that the pre-recording of lectures that can be viewed in advance, and the technical things that can be carried out by group activities centered on visits, experiences and experiences are realized.

This weeks assignment is to read this article written by Michael Horn for the Forbes website:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/michaelhorn/2014/03/25/busan-schools-flip-koreas-society-classrooms/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
You should also watch the first 2 parts of the KBS documentary:
http://edufor21.kbs.co.kr/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
After doing these two things I want you to make a blog post about the article/documentary.

Please include the following discussion points in your post:

1. How did you feel after reading/watching the materials?
A: I am very sympathetic. And I thought of my school days. It was very difficult to listen to teacher-centered lectures in some subjects during my school days.
And even if it is not 100% perfect, I hope to change the classroom into student-centered learning as soon as possible.

2. What are some of the pros you see with using a flipped classroom?
A: he advantages of a flipped classroom are student-centered learning and the participation of all students in the classroom.
I think that true education should be practiced in school, and I think that the starting point of true education begins with every student participating in the class. In that respect, this class seems to be very groundbreaking.

3. What are some of the cons you see with using a flipped classroom?
A: The disadvantages of a flipped classroom are that it takes a lot of work and time. Most importantly, IT is exposed to children who grow up.

(In-depth coverage)

4. Have you ever been a student in a flipped classroom?
A; My daughter is currently attending an alternative school. The school's system is similar to this school. However, there is a slight difference. My daughter learns and studies all subjects on her own. And the teacher checks individually. Students do not share what they have learned through activities. Therefore, there is a bigger difference between individual and subject.
It seems to be an example of wrong application.

5. Would you use the idea of the flipped classroom to teach your students?
A: It is well worth it. I will give students a learning initiative. And I will focus on individual instruction or development learning to the extent of student learning. I will give the classroom to students.
(For a flipped classroom Teacher)

6. How do you think Korean society would react to the flipped classroom becoming standard across Korea?
A; The Republic of Korea is one of the later IT developments. Especially, it can be said that it is global in terms of Internet penetration and speed. So, the technical infrastructure is already ready. And When thinking about the creativity and adaptability of Koreans, Korea will be the most successful country in the world in a  flipped classroom.

We watched the classroom in the cloud in class. Here is the website that explains a little more about the project:

Please comment on the above link and the Ted Talk video:

You can include the following in your discussion board post:
1. Do you have any experience studying through on-line lectures or seminars? How was it?
I studied MBA at Hanyang Cyber Graduate School. Classes were held not only in pre-recorded lectures, but also in real-time, both in real time, with faculty and students using headsets to ask questions from professors during classes. It was a way of overcoming the unilateral lesson in one way of online lecture.

(HYCU Online Lecture Experience)

2. Do you think the classroom in the cloud is a reality? Can it eventually replace the traditional schools?I do not think the classroom in the cloud is real. But I think we can eventually replace traditional schools.  This is because traditional classrooms seem difficult to overcome their innovation and creativity.
I experienced lectures that overcome the weaknesses of online lectures in graduate courses. I took the course I wanted perfectly without the time constraints and the time and expense of moving to a certain place.

(The classroom in the cloud)

3. What are some of the benefits/problems with "A classroom in the cloud?"
As mentioned, time and space limitations can be completely overcome and the costs can be reduced accordingly. However, it is hard to feel the feelings and solidarity that can be felt in traditional classrooms.

4. Did the website/video impress you? Why or why not?
I was most impressed with the Ted Talks video. In this video, Ted is accurately socializing and defining things that are already evolving from a pedagogical point of view into social phenomena.

1. How easy was it to use quizlet?
A: It was so easy for me and I think students can easily study English. In particular, it seems good to be able to make a vocabulary based on the teacher's intention.

                                                          (The Homepage of quizlet)

2. Did you experiences any challenges in using the software?
A; There was no particular difficulty. However, I was worried about where I should focus on when there is a lot of meaning in one word.

3. What level did you decide to make the cards for? Why?
A; I focused on the process for beginners. The reason is that when I was young, it was difficult for me to speak English so that I could have opportunities for children to get to know more easily.

4. What topic did you choose for your cards? Why?
A;I put my focus on "study" on the cards I make. The reason is that the student's mission is to study first.

5. What did you think about the different functions? (Flashcards, Learn, Speller, Test)
A:It is very practical, and I think it will be very helpful for the teacher who makes the card and the students who study with it.

6. How can you incorporate this software into the classroom?
A;Before studying the text of the day, it is easier and easier for the students to learn the various words related to the topic at home by studying the card and then studying the text of the day.
